
Thirteen Programs in Top 10 for Service

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – It was announced today that 13 University of Louisville athletic programs ranked in the top 10 amongst Division I teams in service hours for the 2019-20 season.

Of those 13 programs, Field Hockey and Lacrosse led their sports nationally in service, while Baseball (3), Dance Team (3), Men's Soccer (3), Women's Soccer (3), Men's Swimming & Diving (5) and Women's Rowing (5) all ranked in the top five. Cheer (6), Women's Golf (8), Softball (8), Women's Swimming & Diving (10) and Men's Golf (10) all finished in the top 10.

Field Hockey had eight student-athletes with over 20 hours of community service and accumulated more than 500 hours as a team, while Lacrosse had 29 student-athletes with more than 20 hours and the team accumulated just under 1,000 hours.

In January, the UofL athletics department was named the winner of the 2019-20 NCAA Team Works Award Competition for outstanding community service in Division I as announced by the NCAA. It marked the second time the Cardinals have won the award in the six years of the competition.
