Sergio Luis Hernandez Ramirez will join the Cardinals in January 2019
University of Louisville men's tennis head coach Rex Ecarma has announced that Sergio Luis Hernandez Ramirez has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Cardinals in the spring of 2019.
"Sergio is one of the most heralded signees in UofL tennis history and one of the elite recruits in the ACC Conference," said Ecarma. "He can impact our lineup this January in singles and doubles and is playing his very best tennis right now. I welcome his confidence to our team because he fears no player or team in the NCAA. He joins an already experienced team with a freshman class that really improved over the course of tournaments this semester. I am very excited about his potential."
Ramirez comes to Louisville from Medellin Colombia where was ranked as high as No. 61 in the International Tennis Federation World Junior ranking. Some of his impressive junior highlights include: reaching the doubles quarterfinals of the USA International Spring tournament, the Orange Bowl round of 16 and a quarterfinal appearance in both singles and doubles at the Banana Bowl. He has won four ITF singles titles, reached the doubles finals of the Copa Barranquilla and the semifinals of the Asuncion Bowl. Additionally, he played in the US Open Juniors Main Draw, Wimbledon Juniors qualifying and French Open Juniors qualifying draws.
