LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville has been selected as the host institution for five upcoming NCAA Championship events between 2018-2022.
The KFC Yum! Center has been the home for UofL Basketball for the last seven seasons. The spectacular arena has previously served as the site for the NCAA Men's Basketball Second and Third Rounds in 2012 and 2015, the NCAA South Regional in 2016 and was the site for the 2012 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship. The 22,000-seat multi-purpose arena includes 71 luxury suites, 62 four- or six-seat premium boxes, over 2,000 side-court club seats and four party suites with a seating capacity of 32 each.
It will be the sixth time that Trager Stadium will serve as the host site for the NCAA Division I Field Hockey National Championship. UofL was previously awarded the upcoming 2017 national championship and the event was also staged on the Cardinals' home field in 2002, 2005, 2008 and 2011. In addition, the NCAA Division II Championship was played at the facility in 2010. Located in Cardinal Park on the UofL campus, Trager Stadium opened in 2000 and was expanded in 2008 with a seating capacity of 2,500.
The University of Louisville Golf Club, purchased by UofL in 2013, is an 18-hole championship golf course and 212-acre complex in Simpsonville, Ky., which serves as home to the UofL men's and women's golf teams. UofL invested over $11 million in the club, which opened in 2001 and has been the site for multiple golf tournaments, including collegiate conference championship and the state Kentucky Open. Along with the championship course that spans almost 7,000 yards from the championship tees, the club features full-service food and beverage service, a 22-acre practice facility, five different levels of tees, a 12,000-square-foot clubhouse with banquet and meeting facilities and a pro shop that overlooks a swimming pool for its private members.
The NCAA had already previously awarded the Division I Men's and Women's Cross Country National Championships to Louisville for the 2017 season. In 2012 and 2015, UofL served as host for the NCAA Cross Country National Championships at E.P. `Tom' Sawyer State Park.
