
De Lucca Named Swimmer of the Week in The American

Swimming and diving Swimmer of the Week award was announced by the American Athletic Conference Tuesday, with a repeat honoree as Louisville senior Joao De Lucca earned his third Male Swimmer of the Week honor.
De Lucca earned recognition after Louisville traveled to Michigan for a dual meet against the No. 1 team in the nation. The senior had a remarkable performance, swimming the leadoff leg of the 800-yard freestyle relay. De Lucca completed his leg in 1:33.34, which was a NCAA `A' Cut for a 200-yard freestyle and broke the pool record previously held by Olympian Michael Phelps. De Lucca also set a pool record and got an `A' cut for his 100-yard freestyle time of 42.39 in the leadoff leg of the 400-yard freestyle relay.
