
Swimming Completes Day 2 Prelims at Michigan Open

The Cards continued to post a strong showing during the Michigan Open. U of L completed the second day of preliminaries with seven wins at the Canham Natatorium in Ann Arbor.
In the 400-IM, Abigail Chin was the top qualifier, going 4:18.06 for a first. For the men, Ryan Massey was fourth with a time of 3:55.40 and teammate Bret MacKenzie was fifth in 3:55.82.
In the 100-fly, Devon Bibault had the fastest qualifying time in the field with a 54.44. Emma Coakley was second with a 55.75. For the men, the Cardinals had five of the top six times paced by Aaron Young's 47.10. Pedro Coutinho (47.61) was third, Mihael Vukic (48.56) was fourth just ahead of David Boland (48.56) and Joao De Lucca (48.50).
Abigail Houck posted a 1:47.88, the fastest time in the women's 200-free field. Tanja Kylliainen was second in 1:48.40 and Kelsi Worrell was third in 1:48.96. Krissie Brandenburg was fourth in 1:49.18 just ahead of Devon Bibault was fifth in 1:50.53. Trevor Carroll was the top Cardinal finisher with a fourth place time of 1:38.25. Ruben Izarra was sixth with a time of 1:39.64.
The Cardinal women swept the top three spots in the 100-breast, led by Andrea Cottrell's 1:01.54, followed by Gisselle Kohoyda's 1:03.14 and Lucy Kramer touching third in 1:03.95. Kameron Chastain qualified first in the men's event, with a time of 55.35. Teammate Brennen Berger was just behind him with a 55.45.
In the 100-back, Mackenzie Buss was first with a time of 54.89 followed by Krissie Brandenburg 55.20, Emily O'Neill (56.28) with Erica Belcher completing the sweep with a fourth place time of 56.59. For the men, Aaron Young hit the wall first in 47.62, with Evan Noble touching fourth in 48.71 and Nicholas Hasemann's 49.02. Aaron Green was sixth in 49.70 and Ryan Massey was seventh in 49.74. Caryle Blondell was eighth in 49.84.
