The second American Athletic Conference swimming and diving awards of the 2013-14 season were announced on Tuesday, as Cardinal senior Joao De Lucca was named American Athletic Conference male Swimmer of the Week, while Cincinnati freshman Jackie Keire was named female Swimmer of the Week.
A defending NCAA champion, De Lucca had a strong performance in an upset victory for the No. 19 Cardinals as they beat No. 12 Tennessee for the first time in school history, winning 167.5-132.5. De Lucca had two individual victories, in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle, while placing second in the 50-yard freestyle. De Lucca swam the 100-yard freestyle in 44.02, the top time in the NCAA thus far, while swimming the fifth best time in the NCAA with a 1:37.44 in the 200 freestyle. Both results were NCAA 'B' cuts.
