LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team Morehead State 7-0 Wednesday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cards, who had defeated Murray State 7-0 earlier in the day, improve to 12-8 on the season.
The Cardinals took the doubles point to start the match. Freshman Sebastian Steifelmeyer and senior Robert Hall rolled to an 8-0 win over David Clifford and Kevin Deligny at No. 2. Senior Andrew Carter and freshman Albert Wagner, No. 55 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association doubles rankings, beat Justin Harlow and Hugo Almonte 8-5 at No. 1. Senior Sumit Gupta and freshman Van Damrongsri defeated Nathan Martin and Nathan Blum 8-2 to close out the doubles matches.
Freshman Michael Lippens added to the lead with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Seve Day at No. 4. Freshman Luis Elizondo made the score 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Nathan Martin at No. 5. Stiefelmeyer defeated Kevin Deligny 6-2, 6-4 on court two to clinch the win. Carter picked up a 6-1, 6-2 win over Harlow at the top seed to make the score 5-0. Freshman Chris Simich defeated Roger White 6-3, 6-3 at the six spot and Wagner wrapped up the match with a 6-3, 6-2 win over David Clifford on court three.
The Cards are back in action on March 28, when they travel to No. 21 Indiana.
