
No. 6 UCLA Defeats No. 12 Men's Tennis

SEATTLE - - The 12th ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to No. 6 UCLA 4-1 in the first round of the ITA National Team Indoor Championship. The Cards (8-2) will face No. 16 Georgia Saturday.
"Viktor and Austen won at No. 1 doubles, but we could not get anything going on the other courts,¡± said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "In singles, Simon and Dante were in control of their matches before play was abandoned. We have to regroup because we play a tough Georgia team tomorrow."
The Bruins took the doubles point to open the match. The duo of Adrien Puget and Holden Seguso defeated Louisville's Simon Childs and Andrew Carter 8-1 at No. 2 while Daniel Kosakowski teamed to beat Alejandro Calligari and Amaury Derognat 8-2 at the No. 3 position. Louisville¡¯s 26th ranked team of Austen Childs and Viktor Maksimcuk defeated Amit Inbar and Alex Brigham 8-5 at the top seed.
In singles action, Austen Childs, No. 11 in the ITA singles rankings, put the Cards on the scoreboard with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over No. 63 Kosakowski at No. 1. The Bruins got wins on courts 2, 4 and 5. No. 84 Inbar topped Maksimcuk 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2. Puget beat Carter 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 and Seguso win 6-3, 6-2 win over Calligari at No. 4 clinched the match.
