The University of Louisville women's swim team's 200-free relay team finished seventh in the nation during the first day of competition at the 2009 Women's NCAA Division I Championship on the campus of Texas A & M University in College Station Texas.

"Last year, we scored one point in our first NCAA appearance. We had 31 points tonight it is our best day on paper," said U of L head coach Arthur Albiero. "I am so proud of these young women, who are all rookies at the NCAAs.

Whitney Campbell, Nicole Landisch, Anna Dishuck and Liz Halet combined to post a time of 1:28.47 in the 200-free relay.

In the consols, Whitney Campbell improved her standing by three spots as she finished second in her race and 10th overall in the 50-free.

"It is a great day to be a Cardinal. With her performance today, it put Whitney in the top 20 all time performer list. Her leadoff leg time in the relay of 21.91 put her on the list. These ladies are tough as nails and they came to race," said Albiero. The 2009 NCAA Championships will be live streamed in a cooperative effort between Swimming World and ESPN. Five of the first six sessions of both the NCAA men's and women's championship meets will be covered by Swimming World while ESPN360 will step in to cover Saturday night finals only. Swimming World will also provide highlight packages, on-demand race footage, and post-race interviews. The live stream will be available at both SwimmingWorldMagazine.com and NCAA.com. ESPN2 will broadcast the women's meet on a tape-delayed basis with a 90-minute show on March 26 at 3:30 Eastern.
