Head Coach Brice Allen
(On how to run the course) "We practice on this course a great deal and the athletes know that the so the athletes are going to take the first mile a little more conservative than the other courses that we run. The first hill, there's a good hill in the first mile that the men are probably ninety percent as are the women."
(On competing well in the BIG EAST Conference and the NCAA) "We're a hoping to. If we continue to have the health we're having, we're looking forward to having a big year."
(Thoughts on men's team finishing first and women finishing third) "I'm excited about both squads. We have to work on our gap on both teams from one to five. I am excited about the progression and the health of the team. At this time of the season, health is as important of a factor as anything, and we have two healthy squads and we are moving forward. We have Pre-Nationals in two weeks, and that will be one of the biggest races of the season, and we are excited for that."
Matt Bruce
(On the race) "It was great competition today. Of course, the course was a little messy, but you cannot complain about something like that as everybody is running on the same course. The guys ran pretty hard and Cory, Michael, and I just tried to hang on there and see who we could pick off and pass up there at the end."
Cory Thorne
(On the race) "Well, the race was awesome and there were a lot of good competitors out there. I have run with a lot of these guys before. I came out here and just tried to give them my best. I ran a great race, and it was a great improvement from two weeks ago. I have a long ways to go, but it does not matter until the end of the season."
Tarah McKay
(On finishing second) "It was a good race for the beginning of the year. I had to work a lot in the last mile. I was battling back and forth with the girl [Janet Jesangg]. I was able to take her down at the end. There was the first place girl [Jesang] that took off at about a mile and I tried to go for a little bit, and I feel like I still don't have that leg turnover yet, but we'll see it's still early in the season. I've been trying to working on more endurance in the beginning and speed later on. So, we will see how it goes, but I'm happy overall."
(On watching Jesang) "My coach told me to watch for her and I knew she'd be here and I have been racing her for the past few years now. We talk a lot after races anyways, so it is a friendly competition."
(On looking forward to another shot at her later in the season) "Yes, it is always good to have a good competition. I will see her again at regionals."
(On being number one on the team every race of career) "Yeah, but my teammates are getting closer, so that's the good thing is that its red that passes me. I am really looking forward to it."
Kim Grieshaber
(On the outcome of the race) "Well, this is the biggest race that I have run in awhile, so that was different. I kind of got packed in at the start. It was good to have some good competition early in the season. I'm really happy with it. I'm excited to see where we can go from here."
