Louisville Head Coach Jeff Walz
(On the team's performance when Angel struggled today)
"I think it's great, I thought we played extremely well at times. They came out with a box and chaser (on Angel) and we have put in an offense about a week ago for teams that do that. And through that offense, Candyce Bingham was able to get two layups off of it, Keshia Hines got a layup, and Brandie Radde got a wide open 12 foot jump shot. It doesn't matter if Angel is scoring, it matters if we can score. I was very pleased during that stretch how we attacked them."
(On Candyce Bingham's play)
"There was one game this year that she struggled and that was the UCONN game here at home. Besides that, I never have to worry about her playing hard. We don't run a lot of plays for Candyce. What Candyce does is she busts her tail, gets to the offensive glass, and runs the floor. If she can continue to do those things, I expect her to finish with a great year."
"I definitely think she's underrated. In my opinion she is definitely a second team All-BIG EAST player. I've been very pleased with her play."
(On Georgetown's run in the second half)
"We turned the ball over three or four times and missed some easy baskets. They started to press a little bit by trapping the first pass. Then we panicked and threw the ball out of bounds on a wide open layup."
(Did they relax with the lead)
"We might have. One of the things that we talk about is the fact that we can't play the score, we can't worry about who were playing. We have to do what we know is right. Unfortunately, we're not quite there yet. We had a chance to put this game away. I think the lead got to 18 points. We had a chance to put it to 22 or 23 and then had some mental break downs."
Sophomore Brandie Radde
(What could you all have done better today?)
"I thought we did pretty well communicating on defense, I think we need to do a better job handling the pressure, just handling the ball and moving it up the court. Today we didn't score as much in transistion as we normally do."
(On Angel's struggle and still being able to win)
"When she's off, we can't put our heads down just because she is our leading scorer and she's not scoring. We do have other players that can score and we are starting to learn how effective we can be when we move the ball."
Junior Candyce Bingham
(What did Georgetown do to make their 10-0 run?)
"They started to press, which was the first time they had done it all game, and teams don't press us that much. I think we got a little relaxed with the lead and didn't handle the pressure like we should have."
(On hitting her stride)
"At the beginning of the year I was always on the bench with foul trouble, but now I am feeling a little more comfortable. I have been finding myself in the right place at the right time."
