Nationally-Ranked Swimming and Diving to Face Missouri

The nationally-ranked University of Louisville swimming and diving teams will take on regional rival Missouri in a two-day meet this weekend. The aquatic Cardinals will face the nationally-ranked Tigers Friday at 2 p.m. and then again the next morning at 11 a.m. at the Ralph Wright Natatorium.
"This is a great opportunity to move up in the rankings," said Arthur Albiero. "I told our swimmers to be ready to defend our home and to have our best meet so far this season. We have worked on being technically superior which will be important this weekend as this meet will come down to the details... as little as a couple of hundredths here and there."
The Missouri men's team (2-0, 1-0 Big 12) is ranked just two slots below the No. 18-ranked Cardinal men's team. The Cardinals enter the meet ranked No. 18 in the latest CSCAA top-25 poll, while posting a 1-1 record on the dual season and 1-0 in the BIG EAST. The Cardinal men were edged in their first meet of the season, falling to No. 7 Tennessee 168-132, but came back to best West Virginia 178-122 last weekend.
On the women's side, the No. 26 Cardinals (3-1, 1-0 BIG EAST) take on the No. 21 Tigers (1-1, 1-1 Big 12) Louisville's women's squad opened their season with a 166-132 loss to No. 10 Tennessee, but bounced back for three straight victories, getting wins over Miami (Ohio), Purdue and a conference win against visiting West Virginia.
The Cardinals last raced against the Tigers at the 2006 Mizzou Dual Challenge with the MU men winning 165-59, while the women outscored the Cardinals 125-99.
