The University of Louisville women's swim team picked up a pair of wins Friday night in a double dual meet. The Cardinals beat Miami of Ohio,185.00-114.00 and then topped Purdue, 197.00-102.00. In the other match-up. Miami defeated Purdue by a score of 171.00-129.00.
"Our women's team really built on the good start last week and it was good to see a few more athletes stepping up and getting the job done," said Arthur Albiero, U of L head coach. "This performance tonight showed how special this team will be."
U of L had several multiple event winners led by Liz Halet, who won the 100-free (51.15) and 200-free (1:51.30) and then was a part of the winning 200-free relay and 200-medley relay teams for a total of four wins.
Therese Bergstrom swept the 100-breast (1:04.65) and the 200-breast (2:18.78). Anna Dishuck won the 200-IM in 2:05.83 and was second in the 200-back.
Amanda Henleben ground out two wins in the distance free, going 10:08.40 in the 1000-free and 4:40.04 in the 500-free.
Freshman Raine Thompson went 56.84 in the 100-back for the win and fellow frosh Aileen Cole won the 50-free in 23.55.
