Louisville Head Coach Jeff Walz
"It was just a big win for us. We needed a win and it didn't matter if it was at home or on the road, we have been struggling lately. I don't think that it's an emotional or psychological thing. We were on the road the entire nonconference schedule, at Kentucky at Western Kentucky, and at Ball State, so we had a lot of good nonconference road wins. I just think that in the BIG EAST we played the top teams like Syracuse, Pitt, and Rutgers on the road. It's not like we have been going on the road and losing to bad teams. We are just excited to about getting a chance to play at home. We just need to come out and play hard against South Florida on Saturday."
(on the slow start)
"We weren't playing hard. We started out the game having five people staring at the ball instead of finding the next person for the pass to rotate over. Once we started doing that, we finally got them playing at our speed. I think that is what really changed the game. We got them to play at our tempo. We got up and down the floor in transition and that is how we play best. We are not a great half court offensive team."
(on Patrika's play)
"She hit a nice eight foot pull-up jumper and that is all she has to do. I know she is going to lead the team and distribute the ball. She needs to take between 7 to 10 shots because they are going to give them to her. If she can step up and make four or five a game, then that is another scorer they have to worry about."
