
Vali Preda Heads to NCAA Championships for Three Events

University of Louisville swimmer Vali Preda will represent the University of Louisville at the NCAA Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships beginning tomorrow through Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The sophomore, who is a four time BIG EAST Champion, will swim the 100-breast, the 200-breast and the 200-IM for the Cardinals.
The 200-breast is Preda's best event where he is ranked 12th on the pre-meet Psych Sheet. He is ranked 24th in the 200-breast along with three other BIG EAST swimmers in that event. He is 35th in the 200-IM going into the meet. He swam just the 100-breast and 200-breast a year ago.
Preda will leave the NCAA Championships and head will travel to Melbourne, Australia, for the 2007 FINA World Championships where he will swim the 50-breast, the 100-breast and 200-breast representing his native Romania. He is also a member of Romania's medley relay teams.

Television:ESPN2 will air a 90-minute NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships show on March 20 at 1 p.m. central.
