LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated visiting Southern Illinois 7-0 Saturday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cardinals (3-0) improve their regular season home winning streak to 42 matches.

The Cards swept the doubles as the No. 47 ranked team of Jakob Gustafsson and Jeremy Clark defeated Felipe Villasenor and Sergio Sanchez 8-4 at the top seed. Damar Johnson and Jhonny Berrido topped Rodrigo Lama and Andrei Bubnov 8-2 at No. 2 and the Cards' Stefan Naughton and Tony Teufel combined for an 8-3 win over Tomas Gonzalez and Bojan Ilievski at the three-spot.

U of L went on to sweep the singles points as well. Johnson picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Lama at the top seed. Slavko Radman defeated Villasenor 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and Clark topped Bubnov 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3. Berrido beat Sanchez 6-2, 6-0 at the four spot. Nicolas Houard defeated Tomas Gonzalez 6-1, 6-2 at the five seed. Robert Rotaru closed the match by outlasting Ilievski 6-4, 6-7, 7-6 at No. 6.

Louisville will go on the road to face Mississippi Friday, Jan. 27 and Georgia Sunday, Jan. 29.
