Berdichev, Ukraine - Every week UofLsports.com will be catching up with the women's basketball team to find out what they are doing during the summer. The Cardinals are working hard over the summer as they prepare to enter the BIG EAST Conference this year.
What is your favorite thing about summer vacation?
Going back to the Ukraine and to see my family, my boyfriend and relatives. To meet all my friends and to tell them about the great 9 months that I spent in the U.S.
What was the first thing that you did when school was out?
I called my mom and said that I'm not a freshman anymore.
Are you playing basketball this summer?
No, I'm not playing basketball because I had knee surgery 3 months ago, but I'm working hard on my rehab!
What does your summer workout consist of?
Our trainer, Carole, made a program for me, so I'm doing knee exercises, some running and jump stuff. Coach Fran made a lift list, she wants to make me strong like Jazz, so I have a lot of things to do this summer. And I'm shooting ball a lot with my first coach.
Are you going on vacation?
Yes, I'm going to the Black Sea in July.
Are you working a summer job?
No, I'm not working, I'm just having fun in the Ukraine!
What is your favorite summer activity?
My favorite summer activity is playing in the European Championships with my Ukrainian National team, but I'm not able to participate this summer because of my injury.
What do you miss most about the United States?
Oh, probably everything, but most of all my American family, my roommates, my team and PIZZA!
What are your basketball goals for the summer and what do you hope to improve on for next season?
First of all I want to recover after my injury, to make myself strong, and to be prepared for the Big East. And I want to improve my vertical jump, because of my biggest dream - to dunk one day!!!
If you could do anything this summer, what would you do?
I would make this summer vacation much longer!!!
