Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team had to take a deep breath and wait until the final 16 names were called to see if they would finally go dancing after a long four year break. The Cardinals return to the NCAA tournament field for the first time since the 2001 season. Seniors Angel Bradley, Nina Simotes and Joleen Phillips get to go dancing for the first time in their collegiate careers after a heartbreaking disappointment last season. The Cardinals are the No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 seed USC in the first round held in Minneapolis, Minn. at Williams Arena on Saturday, March 19 at Noon. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN. The winner will face either No. 1 seed Michigan State or No. 16 seed Alcorn State on Monday, March 20.
The Women of Troy will be making their first since NCAA appearance since 1997 and their 14th overall appearance. USC finished the season with an overall record of 19-10 finished tied for second in the Pac-10 with a record of 12-6. The Women of Troy are coached by first year head coach Mark Trackh.
All session passes are available and can be purchased through the University of Louisville Athletic Ticket Office at 852-5151. Prices for all session passes are $45 for adult, $35 for bench (no chair back) and $25 for students.
