
Women's Basketball to Face Southern Miss

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball will face Southern Miss Friday, Feb. 18 in Cardinal Arena at 7:00 p.m. The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 17-7 and a league record of 8-3. Louisville is currently tied for second place in the league standings with TCU and Charlotte, two teams the Cardinals have defeated this season.
The Cardinals are led in scoring by sophomore standout Jazz Covington. Covington averages 18.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Freshman Yuliya Tokova has stepped into the starting lineup for the Cardinals the last six games with the absence of Missy Taylor. Since earning a starting position the 17 year-old has flourished with 13 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.
Southern Miss enters the game with an overall record of 9-15 and a Conference USA record of 3-8. The Lady Eagles will be vying for a spot in the Conference USA Tournament this weekend. Eight of the 12 team field has already qualified with six teams fighting for the four final spots.
The Lady Eagles are led in scoring by freshman Shannon Stueber with 14.7 points per game. Sophomore forward Deondra Carter is second on the team in scoring with 11.2 points per game.
Louisville leads the series with Southern Miss 21-19. The Cardinals have won the last three meetings with the Lady Eagles. Louisville owns a 12-7 record against Southern Miss at home.
