
Swimming and Diving Compete at IU Quadrangular

The University of Louisville swimming and diving teams had strong performances at a highly competitive quadrangular meet at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center in Bloomington, Ind.
The U of L women beat Southern Illinois 117 to 111, were edged by host Indiana 114-112 and beaten 155-73 by No. 12 ranked Wisconsin.
The Cardinal men's team dropped the meet with IU 144-78, Southern Illinois 133-91 and lost to No. 25 Wisconsin 131-93.
U of L won the Men's 400-medley relay with a time of 3:25.33. Freshman Vali Preda had a blazing time of 2:03.58 to win the 200-breast for the Cardinals. He finished second in the 200-IM with a time of 1:53.48. Diver Robbie Lewis was third in the 1-meter springboard.
U of L women had strong performances by freshman Leslie Van Winkle who finished second in the 100-free and 200-IM. Ashley Jackson was third in the 1650.
