
Covington Named Conference USA Player of the Week

Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore standout Jazz Covington was named Conference USA Player of the Week after guiding the Cardinals to two wins over the league's previously undefeated teams TCU and Houston. She led the Cardinals averaging 17 points and 9.5 rebounds over the weekend.
Covington led all scorers with 22 points and 13 rebounds in the Cards' dramatic come from behind win over TCU on Friday evening. The performance was the 6-2 center's fourth double-double of the season. On Sunday against Houston, Covington registered her 23rd consecutive double scoring game with 12 points. She also added six rebounds and four steals in the Louisville's one-point win.
For the week Covington shot 48.1 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from behind the three-point line against two of the top post players in the league. She also shot 63.6 percent from the free throw line.
The sophomore is fourth in the league in scoring with 18.0 points per game. She is atop the league in scoring with 21.8 points per game in conference play. Covington currently ranks seventh in the nation in field goal percentage.
The Cardinals will return to action on Friday, Jan. 28 at Memphis in Elma Roane Fieldhouse at 8:00 p.m.
