
Women's Basketball Wins Sixth Straight

Hattiesburg, Miss. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team won its sixth game in a row with 67-58 win over Southern Miss on Sunday afternoon in Reed Green Coliseum. Five Cardinals scored in double figures with Sara Nord leading the way with 19 points. Jessica Huggins added 13 points, Angel Bradley had 12 points, Kim Graham scored 11 points and Jazz Covington rounds out the top scorers with 10 points.
Louisville forced the Lady Eagles into 20 turnovers, turning them into 25 points. Southern Miss cut the Cardinals lead to three in the first three minutes of the second half. Then Bradley hit a jumper to spark a 10-0 run, putting the Cardinals up 46-33 with just over 14 minutes remaining.
The Cardinals shot 52.4 percent from the field in the second half and finished the game shooting 43.9 percent. The Cardinals hit 66.7 percent from behind the arc in the second half and finished the game shooting 31.6 percent. Southern Miss outrebounded the Cardinals 37-34.
Southern Miss jumped out to an early lead in the first half. Graham converted on a three point play to tie the score at 17 with 11:15 remaining in the half. Nord nailed a three-pointer at the top of the key that sparked a 12-2 Cardinal run, giving the Cards its biggest lead of the game at 29-20 with just over five minutes remaining.
Louisville shot 38.9 percent in the first half and outrebounded the Lady Eagles 23-16 for a 36-29 lead at the half. Nord went 4 of 8 from behind the arc to lead the Cards with 12 points at the half.
The Cardinals will finish out the regular season at home next weekend. Louisville will host Charlotte on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:00 p.m. in Cardinal Arena.
