LOUISVILLE, Ky. - For the fourth consecutive race, junior Ashley Ruberg led the way for the University of Louisville women's cross country team as the Cardinals competed at Saturday's Cardinal Classic at the U of L Shelby Campus.
Ruberg, a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, covered the 5-kilometer course in a time of 20 minutes, 29.07 seconds to finish 20th in the field of 93 runners. She has now been the Cards' leading finisher for all four races this season, including last week's Greater Louisville Classic, the Commodore Classic on Sept. 11 and the Woodford Trials on Sept. 3.
Senior Corryn McCrae was next for U of L with a 27th-place finish and a time of 20:45.13, followed by junior Lauren Baldwin in 30th with a time of 20:50.49 and freshman Jessie Faulkenberg was 58th with a 21:55.88.
U of L did not earn a team score with only four Cardinal runners finishing the event. Eastern Kentucky won the team title with 29 points, followed by Bellarmine in second with 60 points and IUPUI in third with 116 points.
