BLACKSBURG, Va. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to Virginia Tech 4-3 Friday at Virginia Tech.

The Cardinals won the doubles point to start the match as Cody Conley and Octavian Nicodim defeated Andreas Laulund and Stephane Rod 8-5 at the top seed. Matt Mayer and Harry Walsh outlasted Angel Diankov and David Emery 9-8(4) at No. 2. Virginia Tech's team of Francis Huot and Michael Kurz defeated Sebastian Aspillaga and Jakob Gustafsson 8-3 at No. 3

U of L picked up singles wins from Matt Mayer and Jhonny Berrido. Mayer defeated Rod 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 at No. 4 and Berrido topped Kurz 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5.

Virginia Tech's Huot defeated Conley 6-3, 6-4 at No. 1 while Andreas Lauland beat Louisville's Paulo Carvalho 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2. The Hokies' highest ranked player, No. 83 Saber Kadiri, posted a 6-4, 6-3 win over Nicodim at No. 3. The match came down to the No. 6 spot as Virginia Tech's Diankov edged Walsh 6-7(1), 6-2, 6-4.

Louisville (18-5) will face No. 17 Virginia Commonwealth Saturday at 1 p.m.
