Swimming Completes Final Day at C-USA Championship and Open

The University of Louisville men's and women's swim team completed competition at the Conference USA Championship and Open at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis. East Carolina won the women's meet and the men's open was won by TCU. The Cardinal women finished fifth and the men finished fourth.

"I am ecstatic about our performance. We will continue to get tougher and tougher and this experience under our belt can only help us when we come back next year," said Sonja Porter, U of L head coach. "The women added 28 points to their total from last year and the men added almost 80 points to their total."

Sean Wilkinson won all three diving disciplines, set meet and school records and was named men's Diver of the Meet. Lauren Bullock continued her assault on the U of L record books setting a school record in the 100-free in the morning session and came back to reset it in the finals for a fourth place finish. She then set it again in the first leg of the 400-free relay. Senior Nils Lofgren set a school mark in the 200-butterfly in his last collegiate swim.

Porter was also pleased with the performance of Brooke Morgan, Stephanie Basler and Sara Mayne who all set in-season and lifetime bests in the 200-back. The women's 400-Free Relay team of Lauren Bullock, Meg Densmore, Stephanie Wyatt, Angie Nicolletta set a school record. Porter cited Travis Gray's swim in the 1650 and Joseph Mittel's swims on all three nights of competition as particularly gratifying.

"Overall this team stepped up in a great way," said Porter. "They got the job done in the morning so they would be there racing in the evening."
