
Women's Basketball Falls to Kentucky 84-80 in Overtime

Lexington, Ky. - Kentucky used an 8-0 run to start the overtime period to defeat Louisville 84-80 Wednesday evening in Rupp Arena. Sara Nord led all scorers with 24 points and three other Cardinals scored in double-figures. Keiko Tate and Jenny Pfeiffer led the Wildcats with 18 points.
Louisville used a 18-3 run in the first five minutes of the second half to take a 43-42 lead in the second half. Freshman Jazz Covington converted on a three-point play to put the Cardinals up. Louisville continued on to a 27-6 run in the first 10 minutes to take a 53-45 lead.
Covington was called for her fifth foul at the 4:05 mark and UK's Jennifer Humphrey's hit two free throws to put the Cats up 63-62. The Cards regained the lead off an Angel Bradley jumper. The Cats took the lead once again when Sara Potts hit a three-pointer to go up 67-65. Kim Graham converted on two free throws to knot the game at 67.
Bradley hit two free throws to regain the lead with just over two minutes remaining. With 1:42 left to play, UK's Se Se Helm hit two free throws to tie the score at 69. The Cards had the ball with the shot clock off but missed two shots to send the game into overtime.
The Wildcats used a 25-11 run in the final 10 minutes of the first half to lead the Cardinals 39-25 at the break. Forward Keiko Tate sparked the Cats, scoring 10 points in that run. The Cards finished the first half shooting just 28.6 percent from the field and 15.4 percent from behind the arc. The Cats shot 51.6 percent from the field and 40.0 percent from behind the arc. Nord led the Cardinals with 11 points at the break.
