
Women's Basketball Handles Florida Atlantic 93-67

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville defeated Florida Atlantic 93-67 Sunday afternoon in Freedom Hall. Sara Nord led the Cardinals with 23 points and 10 assists while freshman Jazz Covington added 22 points and 12 rebounds. Junior Angel Bradley finished with 16 and Katie Olson added 10. FAU's Trineca McCleod led the Lady Owls with 19 points.
The Lady Owls used an 8-0 run early on to take an 8-5 lead at the 15:46 mark of the first half. The Cardinals then went on to score 16 straight points over the next 2:25 to take a 21-8 lead with 13:21 left in the half. The run was capped by back-to-back three pointers by Nord and Olson. Louisville then went on a 12-0 run late in the half and finished with a 51-29 halftime advantage. Nord scored 16 of her points in the first half, connecting on 4 of 6 from behind the arc.
In the second half the Cards built as much as a 37-point lead with 5:24 remaining. The Lady Owls closed the game on a 19-8 run of their own but could not get closer.
Louisville finished the game shooting 47.6 percent from the field while FAU shot 45.6 percent. The Cards shot 45.8 percent from behind the arc while the Lady Owls shot 29.4 percent.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 3 as they host Morehead State at 4:30 in Freedom Hall. The game is the second game in a double header with the men's team.
