LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Senior Amanda Bell recorded her fourth straight top-10 finish to lead the University of Louisville women's cross country team to a sixth-place showing at the Cardinal Classic Saturday morning at the U of L Shelby Campus.

Louisville finished with 151 points, just 10 points behind fifth-place Alabama-Huntsville, which is ranked 10th in NCAA Division II. Kentucky had three runners finish in the top four to win the 18-team event with 37 points. Miami (OH) was second with 64 points, Eastern Kentucky was third at 68 and Samford was fourth with 120.

Kentucky's Caitlin Phillips edged Miami's Andrea Kremer for the individual title. Phillips finished the 5K race in 17 minutes, 36.37 seconds, while Kremer was two seconds behind at 17:38.52.

Bell ran a season-best 5K time of 18:16.54 to place ninth for the Cardinals. The Clarksville, Ind., native has led Louisville in all four races this season.

Senior Marea Ingwersen ran a personal-best 5K time of 18:53.65 to finish 23rd, while senior Emily Daunhauer was 34th with a time of 19:21.27. Junior Corryn McCrae placed 40th and freshman Holly Geers was 48th to round out the Cardinal scorers.

"We ran much better as a team today," said U of L distance coach Kris Horton. "We were much improved from our finish last weekend and we are continually getting better each day. That is what we want as we approach the conference championship in early November."

The Cardinals return to action Saturday when they travel to Carbondale, Ill., for the Saluki Invitational.
