
WGTK to Carry Women's Basketball Games

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville and Nelligan Sports Marketing have reached an agreement with WGTK/Salem Radio Group to broadcast all the Louisville women's basketball games this season.
"It's important to the development of our women's basketball program that there is a strong medium with which to follow them," said U of L Director of Athletics Tom Jurich. "I'm pleased that WGTK and it's strong signal will provide that opportunity for a growing fan base. We've made women's basketball a top priority at U of L and this is another great step for our program."
WGTK will give Louisville women's basketball a chance to be heard all accross Kentuckiana. WGTK, a 5000-watts AM station located at 970, will reach fans as far as Elizabethtown, Ky. and Columbus, Ind.
"We are very excited about our new relationship with the University of Louisville's Women's Basketball program," said General Manager Gordon Marcy. "The team and university hold the same dedication to excellence that we strive for every day at WGTK AM 970 and the Salem Radio Group."
Tom Collen's Cardinals will tip off the season on Nov. 21 against Xavier in Cardinal Arena. Collen's first team includes three returning starters and four talented newcomers. First team All-Conference USA selection Sara Nord will lead the team at the point in her final season with the Cardinals.
All games can be heard on WGTK 970 AM along with an internet broadcast provided by Yahoo on the official site of U of L athletics at www.UofLSports.com.
