EAST LANSING, Mich. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team completed play in the main draw of the ITA Midwest Regional hosted by Michigan State Sunday.

Sophomore Jhonny Berrido advanced to the round of 16 where he fell to Ohio State's Dennis Mertens 6-1, 6-2. Berrido defeated Western Michigan's Jose Orozco 6-4, 6-2 and Willy Gali of Northern Illinois 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 to reach the round of 16.

Senior Matt Mayer defeated Wisconsin's Scott Green in the first round and lost to Minnesota's Avery Ticer 7-5, 6-4 in the second round.

Sophomore Octavian Nicodim defeated Michigan's Steve Peretz 5-7, 6-3, 6-1 in the first round before falling to Chuck Perrin of Northwestern 3-6, 7-6(3), 6-3.

Notre Dame's Luis Haddock edged Louisville sophomore Jakob Gustafsson 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(4) in the opening round of the main draw.

In doubles action Louisville's Berrido and Johnson defeated Chikcago State's Jay Teen and Eric Winn 8-4, but fell to Purdue's Troy Havens and Paul Rose 8-5 in the second round. The Cardinal team of Jonathan Howard and Mark Kennedy lost to Ball State's Matt Baccarani and Patrick Thompson 8-6, while Clark and Gustafsson fell to Eastern Illinois' Brandon Blankenbaker and C.J. Weber 8-6. Indiana's Ryan Recht and John Stone edged Mayer and Nicodim 9-7 in the opening round of the doubles main draw.
