Men's Tennis Shuts Out Murray State

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team shut out visiting Murray State 7-0 Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cards improve to 4-0 on the season.

The Cardinals took the doubles point to start the match as the 22nd ranked tandem of Cody Conley and Octavian Nicodim defeated Adam Maskill and Masimba Muskwe 8-4 at the top seed. Matt Mayer and Jakob Gustafsson teamed to beat Murray State's Thiago Gondim and Richemn Mourad 8-4 at No. 2; while Jake Kirts and Sebastian Aspillaga defeated Craig Jacob and Zakaria Bahri 8-5 at the three-spot.

Louisville swept the singles in straight sets. At the top seed, U of L's Carvahlo, No. 111 in the ITA singles rankings, won the first set 6-4 before Murray State's Gondim retired. Conley defeated Bahri 6-2, 7-5 at No. 2. Nicodim topped Muskwe 6-1, 6-0 at the three-spot. Jhonny Berrido defeated Maskill 6-2, 7-5, at No. 4. Mayer posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Mourad at No.5 and Kirts defeated Jacobs 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6.

U of L (4-0) will play host to Southern Illinois (0-0) in the second half of the doubleheader at 7:30 p.m.
