
Women's Basketball Earns WNIT Bid

Louisville, KY - The University of Louisville women's basketball team earned a bid to the 2002 WNIT on Sunday evening. The Cardinals will travel to Muncie, Ind. to play Ball State on Wednesday, March 13 with tip-off scheduled for 7:00 p.m. EST. Should the Cardinals advance they would face the winner of the Valparaiso/Michigan game.
Louisville is 17-12 heading into the postseason. Senior guard Marju Sober leads the Cardinals 12.1 points per game. Junior LaKisha Hoffman and sophomore Sara Nord average 11.1 and 10.3 points respectively.
The Ball State is led by forward Tamara Bowie. Bowie averages 16.6 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game. Ball State advanced to the championship game of the MAC Tournament but fell 73-59 to Kent State.
The meeting will mark the first between the two teams.
