No. 12 Southern California Edges Men's Tennis

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to twelfth-ranked Southern California 4-3 Tuesday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The loss snapped a 20 match winning streak for the Cardinals at home.
The Cardinals began the match by winning the doubles point as Cody Conley and Octavian Nicodim combined to defeat Ryan Moore and Nick Rainey 8-2 at the top seed and Matt Mayer and Brent McCombe teamed to beat Ruben Torres and Teige Sullivan 8-3 at No. 3. USC's Prakash Amritraj and Daniel Langre topped Alex Sivertsen and Adam Maskill at the two-spot.
In singles action, Conley defeated Moore 7-6, 6-4 at the top seed and Carvalho won the first set 7-6 before No. 22 ranked Andrew Park retired from play to give U of L it's second singles point at the No. 2 position.
The Trojans collected straight set wins at the three, four and six spots. Rainey defeated Sivertsen 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3, Amritraj beat Nicodim 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4 and Damien Spizzo notched a 6-2, 6-2 win over McCombe win at No. 6. With the match tied at 3-3, Mayer and Langre battled to a three-set tiebreaker with Langre outlasting Mayer 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 at No. 5. USC improves to 4-1.
No. 51 Louisville (3-3) will play host to No. 22 Alabama on Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
