LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- University of Louisville swim coach Sonja Porter announced that three swimmers have signed national letters-of-intent to continue their aquatic careers as Cardinals.
Heather Meng of Turnersville, NJ (Washington Township) is a versatile swimmer and will compete in breast, individual Medley, freestyle and butterfly. Mandy Lynn of Louisville's Sacred Heart will swim the breast, butterfly and Individual Medley. Emily Rabe of Jeffersonville, IN (Jeffersonville HS) will swim sprint freestyle and backstroke.
"The signing of these three athletes is a pivotal turning point for the U of L women's swim team," said Porter. "The recognition of our other programs nationally is driving home the message that we have what it takes to build national caliber programs, and prospective student athletes are taking notice."
This is Porter's second year at the helm of the women's team and her first year as the men's skipper.
"Building a program is like competing a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. You have to sort and coordinate and everything has to fit," explains Porter. "It's about dynamics and matching. Heather, Mandy and Emily are like the boarders providing the puzzle's form. Together they bring a level of talent, determination and desire that matches the philosophy and vision of this program. I am excited to see them lead the next generation."
