Men Tie, Women Swimmers Edged by Eastern Illinois

CHARLESTON, Ill. -- The University of Louisville men's swim team tied Eastern Illinois 115-115 in the season opening meet in Charleston, Friday Night. The women were edged 120-117.
The men won the 400-Medley Relay and senior Nils Lofgren won the 200-fly and James Winchester won the 200-breast to pace the aquatic Cardinals. Louisville men's divers swept adding 26 points to the total.
Despite holding a narrow 113-107 lead going into the final 400-free relay, the U of L women were edged by the narrowest of margins. The women had seven firsts with Angie Nicolletta winning the 200-fly, and the 20--free to pace the Cardinals. Distance expert Lauren Seymour won the 500-free and Stephanie Basler too the 200-back. Divers swept to add 32 points.
