Men's Tennis Falls to Middle Tennessee 6-1

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to the 37th-ranked Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders 6-1 at Murfreesboro, Tenn.
The Blue Raiders won the doubles point as the ninth-ranked doubles tandem of Oliver Foreman and Robert Gustafsson began the match with an 8-1 victory over Louisville's Alex Sivertsen and Octavian Nicodim at the top seed. Louisville's Cody Conley and Paulo Carvalho lost to 27th-ranked team of Middle Tennessee's Daniel Klemetz and Kirk Jackson 8-4. At No. 3 doubles, Louisville's Matt Mayer and Brent McCombe topped Middle Tennessee's 51st-rated Trevor Short and Michael Staniak 8-4.
In singles action, Conley took twelfth-ranked Klemetz to three sets before falling 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (3) at No. 1. At the two and three spots, Sivertsen and Nicodim lost by scores of 6-4, 6-4 to Gustafsson and Foreman.
Carvalho lost to Staniak 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4, while Mayer fell to Jackson 6-1, 6-4 at the five spot. McCombe picked up the Cards' only singles point with his 6-2, 6-4 at No. 6.
Middle Tennessee improves to 2-0 on the season.
Louisville (3-1) will play host to No. 25 Kentucky on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 2:30 at the Louisville Tennis Center.
