LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville finished up its home season with a sweep of IUPUI at Crawford Pool, with the men winning 132-90 and the women prevailing 128-40.
Patrick McGonigal had three wins with firsts in the 500-, 100-free and in the 200 Free-Relay. Matt Bentley finished his career at Crawford Pool with a pair of wins in the 200-IM and the 100-free.
"We have done a lot of competing since the holidays and it is gratifying to see the upperclassmen take a leadership role," said Rick Hill, head coach.
Catherine Dievendorf was a triple winner also with firsts in the 1000-free, the 200-Individual Medley and the 100-free.
"Catherine has been one of our most consistent performers," said Hill. "She should do well in our upcoming Mid-West Independent Championships in a little over two weeks."
Louisville divers took care of business as well. Sean Wilkinson swept the men's event with scores of 328.8 and 228.1. Tara Tokarczyk, who already holds every female diving school record for U of L, finished out her senior home season by outclassing the field with scores of 272.40 and 178.25.
"Our divers are invaluable point scorers for us," said Hill. "We almost assume it is a given they will sweep."
The swim team is idle until Feb. 20-25 when they travel to St. Louis for the Mid-West Independents Championships.
