St. Louis, Mo. -- Both the University of Louisville men's and women's swim teams are in second after one day of competition at the Midwest Independents Classic.
The Cardinal women with 174 points trail only Eastern Illinois' 200 in the seven team field. The men have 172 points trailing Western Illinois, which has 234, after the first ten events.
"This is about where I predicted we would be at this point. We had some excellent performances and still have events where we are very strong," said head coach Rick Hill.
Individual highlights include double wins by both Angela Hong and Catherine Dievendorf for the women. Hong won the 200-IM and Dievendorf won the 500-free. They combined forces to help win the 400-Medley Relay.
On the men's side, Matt Bentley won the 200-IM.
