Hello Cardinal fans! Hope you all are getting all your Christmas shopping done, I am trying to do the same. But make sure you have time to come cheer for us against Kentucky on Wednesday night and then against Wofford on Saturday night.
We recently had an 11 days break and used it for studying and team bonding. We were able to work on the team chemistry which we've already seen results with our play from this past weekend in the Women's Sports Foundation Classic.
I am glad that finals are over so now I can focus on basketball and I will be able to see my newest crush (Coach Pitino) since I can spend more time in the gym.
We got back to business after an 11-day hiatus against Coppin State. We focused from tip off and defeated the Lady Eagles 96-45. Everyone played really well.
The next morning we left for Columbus, Ohio to play in the Women's Sports Foundation Classic. On the bus ride we watched the movie a Long Kiss Goodnight and Remember the Titans. The movie Remember the Titans was very symbolic of our team chemistry. We were once divided and now are coming together to win.
I finally played defense against Ohio State! I blew my shoes out and now coach knows why I don't play defense. So the coaching staff had to go buy me a new pair of shoes.
Once again we got behind during the Ohio State game but were able to come back and win the game 67-66. Kara Kessans played really well and scored 20 points. And we advanced to the championship game to play No. 16 Colorado State. The Rams lost two players in their first game but they are still a tough team to beat. They have some really good shooters.
After this trip we seriously need to look into what our team is eating because we during the Ohio State game Coach Clapp called one of the players up front on the bench and when she got up she passed gas and one of the teammates had to cover her face with a towel. She turned around and apologized and then wasn't even listening to Coach Clapp because she was so embarrassed.
Then before the Colorado State game we were finishing our pregame ritual and another teammate passed some gas and it was one of the worst things I ever smelled in my life. We were overwhelmed by the odor so that is why we didn't play well in the first half. But we didn't tell Coach Clapp that.
Once again against Colorado State we got way behind-by 17 at the half. We just couldn't get the offense going. So we waited until the second half to get going again. We cut the lead down to single digits but the Rams made their free throws and were able to hold off our run. We just need to play two good halves. Our defense really made the difference in the second half. Kim Graham (my roommate) and Janelle Antoine really came off the bench and gave us a spark.
We ate at Applebees following the game and then went back to the hotel. We left early the next morning and slept most of the way. Then later that afternoon I made an appearance on Coach Pitino's television show with Bryant Northern. Earlier in the week we played one-on-one and they showed it on the show. I won 4-5 but it was neck-to-neck.
Well I gotta run now. Make sure to come back next week, I am going to write down my Christmas Wish list. Hope to see you at the games this week. Go Cards!!!!!!
