Men's Tennis Falls to Northwestern

EVANSTON, Ill. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team lost to Northwestern 5-2 on Sunday in Evanston, Ill.
The Wildcats won the doubles point as Brad Erickson and Joost Hol combined to defeat Brent McCombe and Cody Conley 8-6 at the top seed, and Ryan Edlefsen and Josh Axler outlasted Oliver Cantrell and Alex Sivertsen 9-7 at No. 3 doubles. Louisville's Tvrtko Kujundzic and Joachim Lien won at No. 2 with an 8-6 decision over Jackie Jenkins and Russell Bennett.
In singles action, Lien posted a singles point for the Cards at No. 2 with 7-5, 6-2 win over Erickson. Paulo Carvalho won the other singles point for the Cards when he defeated Hol 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (8) at the four spot.
The Cards (2-1) travel to Lawrence Kan. on Jan. 27, where they will play Kansas, Middle Tennessee and Minnesota.
