Swimmers Sweep Eastern Illinois

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - In a dual meet with Eastern Illinois, the University of Louisville men's and women's swim teams swept the meet on Saturday afternoon at Crawford.
The Louisville women's team beat Eastern Illinois 138-80. They swept the 1,000 Freestyle event with freshman Sara Mayne winning the event with a time of 11:01.38. Junior Karen Annear finished second with a time of 11:12.65, while senior Jennifer Bergant finished third at 11:17.21.
The Louisville women took command of the meet by taking first in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle, 200 Individual Medley, 200 Fly, 100 Freestyle, 200 Back and 500 Freestyle.
The men defeated Eastern Illinois 135-73. Junior Gary Raketich led a Cardinal sweep in the 200 Freestyle event with a first-place time of 1:48.28. Freshman Scott Johnson finished second with a time of 1:48.87 and freshman Jacob Grieb finished third with a time of 1:50.77.
The men took first place in all the events except the 200 Individual Medley to take a decisive lead over EIU.
The Cardinals will compete next Friday at the University of Kentucky at 5:00 p.m.
