KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman Matt Mayer won the Flight "A" Consolation and the doubles teams of Oliver Cantrell and Jake Kirts and Ciaran Foley and Mayer each finished runner-up in the "A" and "B" doubles flights respectively as the University of Louisville men's tennis team competed at the Tennessee Fall Classic over the weekend.
Mayer defeated Simon Tremblay of Tennessee Tech in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to claim the "A" consolation championship.
He teamed with sophomore Ciaran Foley to advance to the finals of the "B" doubles main draw where they lost to Jack Hu and Michael Lahaie of Memphis 8-5.
Senior Oliver Cantrell and freshman Jake Kirts advanced to the finals of the flight "A" doubles, but lost to Furman's Nickel/Gaughah 8-1.
