Walter Peacock, an outstanding running back and kick returner for the Cardinals from 1972-75, is UofL’s career rushing yardage leader, gaining 3,204 yards (811 rushes in 43 games). He led the Cardinals in rushing three years, gaining 100 or more yards rushing in 13 games, and was named the 1973 Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year. He earned Academic All-America honors in 1974.

A 1977 graduate of UofL’s Speed School with a degree in engineering, Peacock was president and owner of Peacock Systems, Inc., a software development and consulting firm located in Washington, D.C.
