Sherry Effinger Brown

Sherry Effinger Brown led the UofL field hockey team to three consecutive NCAA appearances (1978-80). She was honored as The Courier-Journal Female Athlete of the Year for Field Hockey in 1978, a year in which she set UofL records for most goals in game (6) and most goals in a season (19). She earned the Ed Kallay Award in 1981, UofL’s athletic and academic achievement award. Brown also played third base for the Lady Cards’ softball team for two seasons.
Brown’s affiliation with UofL athletics continued after graduation. She was an assistant field hockey coach from 1981-82, served on the L-Club (UofL’s letterman’s club) Board of Directors from 1984-1992, and also served as an assistant athletic trainer at UofL.
