Amos Martin (1967-71) earned honorable mention All-Missouri Valley honors as a junior at linebacker for the Cardinals in 1970 in helping the Cardinals to an 8-3-1 record. He totaled 57 tackles, 34 assisted stops and three interceptions as the Cardinals reached the Pasadena Bowl. As a senior and team captain, Martin moved to offensive guard where he earned All-MVC honors in leading UofL to a 6-3-1 mark.
Martin played seven years at linebacker in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings (1972-77) and the Seattle Seahawks (1978). After completing his athletic career, Martin has been successful in several business ventures in the Louisville area, including Amos Martin Construction Company, Fountain Wood and Glen Mar Developments and Zaring Septic Service.
