The Planet Fitness Keuber Center, which opened in August of 2007 on the University of Louisville campus, houses training facilities and offices for the Cardinals’ men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s lacrosse teams.
At the center of the facility are two separate extended practice courts for both men’s and women’s basketball. Each of the three sports team that train in the facility have their own locker rooms.
An extensive weight room, expanded in 2017, with cardio equipment on the second level is stationed between the two practice gyms. Two training rooms to support both men and women are a part of the facility, as well as a pair of expansive theatres/team meeting rooms.
Also included are spacious offices for the coaching staffs, conference rooms, and an area off the main lobby to stage media news conferences.
The men’s basketball circular locker room features a section of the 2013 NCAA Championship court on the center floor. A banquet table in the player lounge is built with a section of that precious court. The basketball practice gym can accommodate two side-by-side full courts and has limited seating on the side.
The facility, which is located at 2432 South Floyd Street on the UofL campus, contains more than 60,000-square-feet in floor space and was built at a cost of $15.2 million.
Originally the Yum! Center, the dedication ceremony for the facility on Oct. 10, 2007 included UofL president Dr. James Ramsey, UofL Board of Trustees treasurer Sandra Metts Snowden, UofL Vice President and Director of Athletics Tom Jurich, Yum! Brands Inc., Chairman and CEO David Novak, UofL women’s lacrosse coach Kellie Young, UofL volleyball junior Kristie Wetterer and UofL men’s basketball head coach Rick Pitino.
The facility was officially named the Planet Fitness Kueber Center on Dec. 14, 2018 following a generous gift from Rick and David Kueber (pronounced KEE-ber), leading Planet Fitness franchisees and co-founders of Sun Tan City.
