Bio
Senior: Jones continued to be an integral part of the Cardinals’ lineup during his senior season. At the ACC Championships, he finished 11th in the 400 individual medley (3:46.81), 18th in the 200 butterfly (1:44.74), and 23rd in the 500 freestyle (4:23.71). He was the runner-up in the 500 freestyle (4:22.96) at the Purdue Invitational where he also finished fifth in the 400 individual medley (3:54.33) and sixth in the 200 butterfly (1:48.13) before going on to compete at the Toyota U.S. Open. Throughout the dual meet season, Jones registered 12 top-6 finishes which included a win in the 400 individual medley (3:56.15) against Northwestern. For his performances in both the pool and in the classroom, Jones was awarded ACC Honor Roll honors.
Junior: In his junior season, Jones’ versatility continued to be a major asset for the Cardinals. At the ACC Championships, he tallied 22 points with an 11th-place finish in the 400 IM (3:45.58) and 19th-place finish in the 200 fly (1:44.32). At the IU Invitational, he finished ninth overall in the 400 IM (3:51.29), 11th in the 200 fly (1:47.21) and 14th in the 200 IM (1:47.82). Jones also registered eight top-three finishes throughout the dual meet season, highlighted by a victory in the 200 IM that sealed the Cards’ win over Tennessee. At the Phillips 66 National Championships, Jones finished 19th in the 200m IM (2:02.55) and also raced the 200m fly (2:00.48), 200m free (1:51.68) and 400m IM (4:24.30).
Sophomore: Jones’s versatility proved to be an invaluable asset for the Cardinals throughout his sophomore season. At the ACC Championships, he made finals in all three of his individual events, scoring a total of 52 points for Louisville. His top finish came in the 400 IM, where he placed eighth in a time of 3:46.34. He also placed 11th in the 200 fly (1:44.23) and 13th in the 500 free (4:19.87). At the Phillips 66 National Championships, he competed in the 200-meter fly (2:01.13), 400-meter IM (4:26.04) and 200-meter IM (2:03.24). Jones placed in the top-eight in two events at the Winter National Championships, recording a fifth place finish in the 200 fly (1:44.99) and a sixth place finish in the 400 IM (3:50.06). In the dual meet season, he put together a number of impressive swims. His top performance came at the meet against Michigan, where he took second in both the 200 free and 400 IM and third in the 200 fly.
Freshman: Jarrett's versatility proved to be invaluable to the Cardinals’ squad throughout his freshman season. He qualified for the NCAA Championships three of his individual events, swimming the 500 free, 400 IM, and 200 fly. At the ACC Championships, Jones finished 10th in the 400 IM (3:46.92), 12th in the 200 fly (1:45.30), and 15th in the 500 free (4:23.00), totaling 44 points for the Cardinals. He also swam at the World Championship Trials in Indy, competing in the 200-meter fly (2:01.39) and 400-meter IM (4:31.84). At the US Open Championships, he qualified for finals in both the 400-meter IM (4:23.15) and the 200-meter Fly (2:01.30). At the Arena Pro Swim Series in Atlanta, he swam the 200-meter free, 400-meter free, 800-meter free, 100-meter fly, 200-meter fly, 200-meter IM, and 400-meter IM. Highlights from the dual meet season include a 106 point performance at the UofL Invitational, where he finished second in the 400 IM, fourth in the 200 fly, fourth in the 500 free, and fourth in the 1650 free. Jones also recorded wins in the 400 IM against North Carolina and Missouri.
Prep: Jarrett Jones joins the Cards from East Falmouth, MA. He swam for Cape Cod Swim Club and attended Falmouth High School. He was an Olympic Trials Qualifier in the 400-meter IM and he was the 15-18 New England Age Group record holder in that event. Jones is very versatile, as he holds 14 Cape Cod Swim Club open records. He was a Speedo Sectionals Champion in multiple events and a finalist at the USA Swimming Junior National Championships. On top of his swimming achievements, Jones was also an exemplary student. He was a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, a two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American and a National Merit Scholar. His best time in the 200 IM is 1:50.18 with a 3:49.92 in the 400 IM and a 1:48.52 in the 200 fly. His best time in the 500-free is 4:27.26.
