
McKay Earns Second Straight ACC Pitcher of the Week Honor

Junior lefthander had 12 strikeouts in seven scoreless innings in last Fridayās win over Boston College
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville junior Brendan McKay was selected Monday as the ACC Co-Pitcher of the Week, the second consecutive week the lefthander has earned the honor and the fourth career Pitcher of the Week award for the two-time All-American.
McKay shared this week's conference honor with Virginia Tech's Nick Anderson. Clemson junior catcher Chris Williams was chosen as the ACC Player of the Week.
A week after registering a career-high 15 strikeouts, McKay was nearly as impressive last Friday striking out 12 while scattering five singles and issuing one walk in seven shutout innings to move to 4-0 on the season in a win over Boston College. The Darlington, Pennsylvania native anchored the sixth shutout of the season for the No. 1 Cardinals.
In his four starts on the mound this season, McKay has allowed just one earned run in 25.0 innings (0.36 ERA) with 41 strikeouts and only six walks. Having surrendered no extra-base hits and only 13 singles this season, McKay moved into sole possession of third place in career wins at Louisville improving to 25-7 overall with a 1.87 ERA and 286 strikeouts in 231.1 innings. Along with his work on the mound, McKay also has a .481 batting average with 17 RBI and four home runs this season as a hitter.
