
Women's Lacrosse Adds 10 Players for 2018 Class

The class includes players from eight different states.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's lacrosse announced their 2018 class, which features nine student-athletes.Â
In addition to signing three from Maryland, women's lacrosse also brings in student-athletes from six other states – Florida, Kentucky, Ohio, New Jersey, North Carolina and Virginia.
"I am so excited to get to work with all of these talented student-athletes on the lacrosse field," said head coach Scott Teeter. "These incoming athletes, along with our returning players, have an opportunity to write the next chapter of Louisville lacrosse."
Shay Clevenger, Defender, Woodstock, Md.

Shay Clevenger is a three-year letter winner for the varsity lacrosse team at Marriotts Ridge High School. Following her junior season, she was named First Team All-County, First Team All-Met and Third Team All-USA. In addition, she was listed No. 32 in the Inside Lacrosse Top 49 Young Gun Seniors. She was named UA Baltimore Underclass All-American as a freshman and sophomore. She also lettered in field hockey three seasons.
Why I Chose Louisville – I chose Louisville because when I got on campus, I knew it was somewhere I could spend my four years of college. The atmosphere and the athlete support are awesome. We also have some of the best facilities in the nation. I knew that if I chose Louisville, I would become the best athlete I could be, while also getting an awesome education.Â
Kelly Coughlan, Attacker, Ocean Ridge, Fla.

Kelly Coughlan is a four-year letter winner for the varsity lacrosse team at Oxbridge Academy. She was named team captain during her sophomore, junior and senior seasons, and is the school's all-time leader in goals and assists. She was named All-District First team following her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons. She was also selected to the England National U19 Women's Lacrosse Team and the South Florida National Lacrosse Team.
Why I Chose Louisville – I chose Louisville because I love the high-energy atmosphere and how the entire city supports the University and its athletic teams.
Courtney Deena, Midfielder, Pickerington, OhioÂ

Courtney Deena comes to Louisville as a graduate student after spending four years at Maryland. All four years as a Terrapin, she helped lead the team to conference titles, as they won the ACC title in 2013 and Big Ten titles from 2014 to 2016. As a senior, she saw action in 22 games with 17 starts. In high school, she played four years at Columbus Academy, leading the team to a 74-6-3 record, four state final fours and a state title in 2012. She tallied 258 goals and 164 assists, and 102 draw controls.
Why I Chose Louisville - The reason I chose Louisville is because not only are they in one of the top lacrosse conferences, but they are also incredibly competitive. I have respected the program since high school and I am excited to be a Card!
Elizabeth Janes, Defender, Louisville, Ky.

Elizabeth Janes is a three-year letter winner for the South Oldham High School varsity lacrosse team. She was named varsity offensive MVP in 2016 and 2017. In 2017, she was named to the Kentucky National Lacrosse team and the Kentucky All-Star team. A native of Louisville, Janes lists UofL lacrosse great Kaylin Morissette as the athlete she admires most and says that earning the coaches award at her first Louisville Lacrosse camp was the best moment of her athletic career.

Why I Chose Louisville – I chose UofL because I love what the University has to offer for those who are looking to pursue a medical career. Being a part of the Louisville Lacrosse program has been my dream since my freshman year of high school. Louisville is my home and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to play for my hometown team.

 Kirsten Parker, Midfielder, Owings, Md.

Kirsten Parker is a three-year letter winner in lacrosse at Elizabeth Seton High School. She also played four years of soccer, one year of indoor track, and spent time with the basketball team. She was named team captain of her high school lacrosse team and was named all-conference honorable mention.
Why I Chose Louisville – I knew Louisville was a great fit for me as soon as I came to campus. I loved the school spirit and the girls I met on the team.Â

Kristen Pezzullo, Attacker/Midfielder, Manalapan, N.J.

Kristen Pezzullo is a three-year letter winner for Red Bank Catholic's lacrosse team. She helped lead her team to three consecutive Class B North titles and a trip to the state sectional finals. She was named All Shore Second Team and to the State-Wide Defender of the Year List following her junior season. She was voted the state's top returning assist leader in 2017. She was also a member of the Brine National Team in 2014, 2015, and 2016 and the JGCLA All Star team in 2014. She also cheered two years.
Why I Chose Louisville – I chose UofL because no matter what type of athlete you are; an Olympian, a Heisman Trophy winner, or a National Champion, you are all treated with the same respect. When I first stepped on campus, I knew I belonged here and I felt butterflies in my stomach. The University of Louisville is such an amazing family that I had to be a part of.

Mason Plymire, Attacker, Durham N.C.

Mason Plymire is a three-year letter winner for the Cardinal Gibbons High School lacrosse team. She helped lead Cardinal Gibbons to state titles as a sophomore and a junior. She was forced to sit out her senior year after suffering a knee injury during field hockey season. She is also a four-year letter winner for the field hockey team and a two-year letter winner for the winter track team.
Why I Chose Louisville – I chose Louisville because everyone there has such great school spirit and the sports teams are amazing. Go Cards!
Paige Richbourg, Midfielder, Clifton, Va.

Paige Richbourg is a four-year letter winner in both lacrosse and field hockey at Centreville High School. After she helped lead her team to the state semifinals as a freshman and sophomore, she directed Centreville to the state finals as a junior. Following her sophomore and junior seasons, she was named Second Team All Northern Region and she has been named First Team All-Conference at the conclusion of every season. After her junior season, she was named Varsity MVP and broke the single-season assist record at Centreville. In field hockey, she has been named Varsity MVP all four seasons and First Team All Conference the last three years.
Why I Chose Louisville – I chose Louisville because of the opportunity to play the sport that I love in the ACC and because when I walked onto campus I felt like I was home.
Jen Schaaf, Goalkeeper, Ellicott City, Md.

Jen Schaaf is a four-year letter winner in women's lacrosse at Mt. Hebron High School, along with playing three years of basketball and a year of field hockey. She was a four-year starter at goalkeeper for Mt. Hebron and was named a US Lacrosse All-American following her junior and senior seasons. After her junior season, she was named All Howard County and as a senior she was named Washington Post All-Metro Team, along with being named the No. 2 ranked high school goalie by USA Today.
