Simon Zach moves into second place with a pair of eagles.
University of Louisville junior Simon Zach fired a 9-under-par 63 and the University of Louisville men's golf team maintained its lead after the second round of the Warrior Princeville Invitational at the Princeville Makai Golf Club.
After shooting 22-under-par in the first round on Sunday, the Cardinals nearly matched that performance by firing a 19-under 269 to hold a four-shot lead over second place Missouri heading in the the final 18 holes on Tuesday.
UCLA is in third place at 12 shots back, while San Diego State and Sam Houston State are in fourth and fifth-place, respectively.
"Another terrific performance from the entire team," said associate head coach Aaron O'Callaghan. "It was fun to see Simon Zach catch fire coming down the stretch to shoot 63 and seeing Keegan de Lange keep a spotless card is a huge step in his development. Matthias Schmid continues to show his class with a stress-free 66."
Shooting an impressive round 6-under-par 66 on Sunday, Zach was even better Monday by firing a 9-under-par 63, which included a pair of eagles on No. 13 and No. 18. Entering the day in fifth place, Zach moved into second place just two shots behind
Hayden Buckley of Missouri, who blistered the course with a 61.
Matthias Schmid, who shot 66 on Sunday, duplicated his performance with another 6-under-par 66 to move into a tie for fourth place.
Nicloas Platret, who shot an opening round 65, slipped with a 72 to fall into a tie for 13th place with Keegan de Lange, who moved up with a 4-under par 68. Erik Dulik is tied for 45th after a second round of 72.
The Cardinals begin the final round at 8 a.m., pairing with Missouri, UCLA and San Diego State.
